The Japan Trade Ministry has deemed the Ipod Nano as a fire hazard and had asked Apple to submit a solution to resolve the issue by August 4, 2010. This comes after the Ministry received several complaints since 2005 of incidences where the ipod nano burst into flames.
Six reports regarding incidents of the 2005 model Nano catching on fire while charging have been filed with the ministry since 2008, Hiroshi Miyashita, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry told Bloomberg.
Since 2005, 21 additional cases involving incidents of the device overheating and emitting smoke have also been reported, Miyashita said.
Victoria Secret model Miranda Kerr has just confirmed her pregnancy after marrying Hollywood Star Orlando Bloom just a few days ago.

As Mark David Chapman's parole hearing is coming up again, Yoko Ono has officially stated that she will oppose any parole request by the man who killed her husband, rock legend John Lennon some 30 years ago.
Ono has consistently opposed parole for Mark David Chapman and has again sent a letter to the parole board, her lawyer, Peter Shukat, told the Daily News.
"Her position has not changed," Shukat said in an article published Tuesday.
Lennon was shot to death on December 8, 1980, outside the famed Dakota apartment building just west of Central Park as he and Ono returned home from a recording session.

Another woman was caught trying to smuggle ammunition to Russia. According to the Christian Monitor:

A federal court affidavit filed in New York accuses 24-year-old Anna Fermanova of suburban Plano of trying tried to move the scopes in March without the proper export licenses.
The devices were seized as Fermanova was boarding a plane for Moscow at JFK International Airport, according to the document. She was allowed to complete the trip but was arrested after her return on a charge of attempting to export U.S. munitions. She was arrested at her parents' Plano home on July 15. She was released to home detention after posting $50,000 bond.

The 34-year-old actress is "thrilled" to be expecting her first child with hubby Hayes MacArthur this winter, Larter's rep confirmed Tuesday to E! News.

Lindsay Lohan began her 90-day jail term Tuesday but the troubled Hollywood starlet's sentence was quickly slashed to 14 days, police said.
An "extremely cooperative" Lohan was booked into Lynwood correctional facility shortly after 10:00 am (1700 GMT) Tuesday, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore told reporters.
But no sooner had she donned jail garb and been put behind bars in a nine-square-meter (98-square-foot) cell than Whitmore said the actress's sentence would be reduced to just 14 days, with her release set for August 2.
Lohan, 24, was whisked without comment into a Beverly Hills courtroom, where she was put in handcuffs and transported to Lynwood to begin her sentence for violating parole after a 2007 drunk driving conviction.
Charice Pempengco undergoes cosmetic procedures to prepare for Glee role?
Why in the hell would an 18-year old who looks so much younger than an average 18 year-old American or for any nationality for that matter would even consider getting botox?!!! I think Charice made a bad choice on this one. Although her publicist went on salvage mode by claiming that the procedure was medical and not cosmetic, people here in Manila are already having mixed feelings for this.
The 18-year-old Filipino singer with a booming voice, who recently released her self-titled debut album, saw her career skyrocket after appearing on Ellen DeGeneres' and Oprah Winfrey's talk shows. She underwent a 30-minute Thermage skin-tightening procedure and Botox injections to make her "naturally round face" more narrow, celebrity cosmetic surgeon Vicki Belo told ABS-CBN television.
However, Charice's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, said in an e-mail Monday the Botox was "absolutely not cosmetic," and added said the treatment was for muscle pain in her jaw.
Belo did the Botox procedure in front of the cameras.
"You chew gum and it turns out to be a favorite super-exercise for these muscles, your chewing muscles. So we will show you, this muscle here it's a bit protruding," Belo said as she touched Charice's face. "It's like a ball, so we are going to Botox that in order to get it flat so she will have a cuter face ... we want to give you the apple cheek look because it's cute, right?"
Charice, in the same interview, said last week's face makeover was part of her big preparations for her appearance on the hit show's second season. She starts filming at the end of this month.

I know that Charice is young, sweet, gentle and not one to hold grudges but has she forgotten that it was ABS-CBN through their talent show "Little Big Star" who let Charice slip through their fingers and chose another kid to declare as the singing champion? Hollywood.com thinks the joke is on us: While the website acknowledges that perhaps Phoenix really did have a meltdown, the movie seems to be a "Borat"-style stunt. Batman 3 will start shooting April next year and Director Chris Nolan has stated that Heath Ledger will not be replaced as The Joker in any of the sequels. According to Dimewars.com,

The web is buzzing with rave reviews on Chris Nolan's latest epic "Inception" starring Leonardo Dicaprio. It's not yet showing in Manila but based on the news, the movie has piqued my interest and will see it with my son soon as Inception hits theaters here.

The story can either be told in a few sentences, or not told at all. Here is a movie immune to spoilers: If you knew how it ended, that would tell you nothing unless you knew how it got there. And telling you how it got there would produce bafflement. The movie is all about process, about fighting our way through enveloping sheets of reality and dream, reality within dreams, dreams without reality. It's a breathtaking juggling act, and Nolan may have considered his "Memento" (2000) a warm-up; he apparently started this screenplay while filming that one. It was the story of a man with short-term memory loss, and the story was told backwards. (More of the review here)

Mel Gibson is sinking deeper into the scandal where his girlfriend accused him of physical abuse. 40-year old singer and Oksana Grigorieva, the mother of Mel's 8-month child, is locked in a legal custody battle with the famous actor/ director and has accused Mel of domestic violence.
Now, it gets worse. Radaronline.com has released an 8-minute recording of Oksana arguing with Mel and accusing him of the abuse where the actor is heard saying, "you deserve it!"
Mel Gibson is heard allegedly acknowledging that the actor hit the mother of his 8-month old daughter in a recording released by a celebrity news website.
The eight-minute recording posted Monday by RadarOnline.com is purportedly a phone argument between Gibson and then-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva. After Grigorieva chastised him for allegedly punching her in the face and breaking two of her teeth, a voice sounding distinctively like the Academy Award-winner is heard telling Grigorieva that she "deserved" to be hit.

Ending months of speculation, Wade and Bosh announced Wednesday that they'll sign with Miami, two decisions that vault the Heat back into the NBA championship picture and puts them two-thirds of the way to hitting one of the biggest trifectas in NBA history. Wade, Bosh and James all have talked about playing together. On Thursday night, James will say why that will or will not happen.
"It's over," Wade said in an interview with The Associated Press. "It's not all over-over, but for me, it's over."
Lindsay Lohan has been sentenced to a 90-day jail term for violating her probation. Lohan would also be enrolled to an inpatient rehabilitation program as ordered by Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel.
Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel issued the sentence after listening to testimony from employees of an alcohol treatment program that Lohan had been ordered to attend.
Lohan missed seven classes since December, which led to the judge's harsh rebuke moments after the "Mean Girls" star offered a tearful apology.
"I did do everything I was told to do and did the best I could to balance jobs and showing up," Lohan told the judge. "It wasn't vacation, it wasn't some sort of a joke."
Revel said she found Lohan's apology insincere, comparing it to "somebody who cheats and thinks it isn't cheating if she doesn't get caught."
Lohan was not immediately taken into custody and will be permitted to surrender on July 20. She will have to wear an ankle alcohol monitor until then.
LeBron James has finally decided: he joined Twitter recently.

More than 84,000 people have signed up to follow James as speculation mounts as to where he will play next season, even though he has not yet made a single posting.
The 25-year-old has also started up a website http://www.lebronjames.com/ with the slogan "Getting Closer." Signing up for alerts from the site takes you to a page that reads "you'll be the first to know."
James is one of a handful of marquee free agents who have the potential to dramatically shift the landscape of the NBA for years to come should they choose to switch teams.

Facebook is doing much more than bringing old friends back together. Some say social networking can get way too friendly for people who are married and are linking sites like Facebook to an increase in divorces.
WHAS interviewed a man who is brand new bachelor, but doesn't want his identity revealed. He says Facebook led to his divorce.
This man’s ex-wife went to her high school reunion and saw an old flame, but the meeting didn't stop there. His wife and the old flame started to message each other through Facebook. The divorcee says he went into her account, saw inappropriate messages and the marriage went downhill from there.
Joe Johnson is staying with the Atlanta Hawks after signing a maximum contract with the team as confirmed by his agent, Arn Tellem on Sunday.

Tellem wrote that Johnson, who could have signed as a free agent with another team, chose to remain in Atlanta over Chicago and New York, where he would have been reunited with Mike D'Antoni, his former coach in Phoenix.
Under NBA rules, a team is allowed to pay more to keep a free agent than other teams can offer in salary if he opts to move.
In addition to the financial incentive, the Hawks have reached the second round of the playoffs the past two years, and Tellem said Johnson believed winning in Atlanta "would be more meaningful".
