Famed drummer of acclaimed and influential roots rock group The Band Levon Helm died today in New York after a long battle with cancer.

According to the Chicago Tribune:
Levon Helm, the founding drummer of the Band who became a creative force in roots music and cherished Americana icon as a solo performer, died today at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York after a long battle with cancer. He was 71. "We lost Levon at 1:30 today surrounded by friends and family, and his musicians have visited him," guitarist and frequent Helm bandmate Larry Campbell told the Times Herald-Record. "As sad as this was, it was very peaceful." The Arkansas-born musician -- who formed the influential group as the Hawks, the Toronto-based backup unit for rockabilly singer Ronnie Hawkins -- was the original drummer for Bob Dylan's first touring electric group.

Stallone and Schwarzenegger Finally in One Movie: The Tomb

Stallone and Schwarzenegger finally team up in The Tomb

This is probably one team-up that has been long overdue. Long-time pals Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger is finally teaming up for what probably be the most-awaited action movie of the decade: The Tomb.

According to Collider.com:
We recently heard that Stallone was talking with his pal Schwarzenegger about joining the film in a different role, and today that news has been confirmed as both Stallone and Schwarzenegger are set to star. Stallone plays Ray Breslin, the world’s foremost authority on structural security. Breslin is framed and incarcerated in a prison of his own master design, and must now figure out how to break out (shouldn’t be too difficult if he designed the damn building). Hit the jump for more, including details on Schwarzenegger’s character.
Schwarzenegger will play Church, “a complex inmate with multiple shades of grey.” He’s described as “the guy who fights to keep the prisoners from losing their humanity in their darkest hour as they struggle together to stay alive.”
The two giants could be seen this spring in The Expendables 2.

Setback for Romney as Santorum wins over Minnesota, Missouri and Colorado

Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum caused a major setback to the 2012 US Presidential candidacy of Republican front-runner Mitt Romney by winning votes from Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado.

According to the Los Angeles Times:

Republican long shot Rick Santorum poked holes in Mitt Romney's aura of inevitability Tuesday night with a trio of upset victories that shifted the dynamic of the 2012 presidential contest.

The former Pennsylvania senator's wins in the Minnesota and Colorado caucuses and Missouri primary were setbacks for Romney, the national front-runner, who had been expected to cruise easily through a series of relatively minor February voter tests. He must now wait three weeks to regroup, when Arizona and Michigan hold what suddenly are shaping up as unexpectedly important primaries.

Disco Queen Loleatta Holloway Passes Away

http://www.flickr.com/photos/varun

American Disco Legend Loleatta Holloway passed away early this week at the age of 64.

According to Contactmusic.com:

Speaking to BBC 6 Music after news of Holloway's death had begun to circulate yesterday (22nd March 2011), Ron Richardson, Holloway's manager said, "She was a very strong, powerful woman, but she was sweet at the same time. She was also very fragile, which a lot of people didn't know". The singer, perhaps best known for her track 'Love Sensation', rose to prominence in the UK after the dance-act Black Box sampled her vocals for their number-one track 'Ride on Time'. The song became controversial after it emerged that the band had sampled Holloway's vocals without permission and the American singer successfully sued the group. Giles Peterson, the Radio 1 DJ and co-founder of the Acid Jazz label, spoke of his appreciation for Holloway and in particular her track 'Hit and Run', saying, "That needs to get played again, because that really takes the soul, the emotion, the disco - everything about Loleatta Holloway is in that one song".

Mila Kunis stars in Black Swan; reveals she almost quit acting!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/gageskidmore

In a recent interview, Black Swan star Mila Kunis revealed that she almost quit acting after her hit TV show "That 70s Show" wrapped up in 2006.

According to Showbiz Spy:
“I was like, ‘Alright, this has been a god run, but I’m done’. I wanted to rethink my life for a minute because I didn’t think acting could be a career. This is the worst industry you can put yourself in because there’s no security whatsoever. I mean, none,” she said.
“The whole thing is based so much on opinion and nobody is wrong. That person can think I’m great, that person can think I suck, and they’re both right. I was like, ‘Can I really do this for the rest of my life?’
“What a lot of people don’t realize is that you make more money in TV than you will in film; it’s a very steady salary. An obscene amount of money gets given to you for, like… what? So I was 20, and I looked at my bank account and realized  that I was secure for the rest of my life. I was like, ‘I’m okay. I can go do other things now’.
Thank God, Mila decided to stay on! Watch her co-star in Black Swan with Natalie Portman.

nicki minaj check it out video

Nicki Minaj releases her new music video with will.i.am entitled "Check It Out"

According to MTV.com:
Nicki Minaj jokes about her multiple personalities, but in the new video for "Check It Out" she proves their existence. Minaj, will.i.am — and their clones — released the clip on Monday night.
"We're doing an ode almost to Japanese anime," Minaj told MTV News last month while on the Los Angeles set of the video. "I'm obviously a big fan, and I've joined forces with the only boy that I know that's able to capture that culture."
With its highly stylized visuals, including Korean words and multiple dancing will.i.ams, Nicki kept her promise. "Check It Out," which was produced by will.i.am and samples the Buggles' "Video Killed the Radio Star," is a pop-driven mind boggler.

Check It Out
Lyrics courtesy of http://www.directlyrics.com

Oh ooh (x4)

[Will.i.am]
Step up in the party like my name was Mr. T
All these hating naggers ain’t got nothing on me.

If you lick and roll it you get super OG
Mine is always ? cause I'm fly, fly, fly
Dummies they can’t touch me cause I'm floating sky high
I stay nigga-rific you don’t need to ask why
You can try and see with your eyes

[Bridge]
I can’t believe it, it’s so amazing.
This club is heating, this party’s blazing.
I can’t believe it, this beat is banging.
I can’t believe it, I can’t believe i-it.

[Chorus]
(Hey) Check It Out (x10)
(Yeah yeah, I’m feeling it now-ow)
Check It Out (x3)

[Nicki Minaj]
Stepped up in the party like my name was “that b***h”.
All these haters mad because I’m so established.
They know I’m a beast, yeah I’m a f**king savage
Haters you can kill yourself.
In my space shuttle and I’m not coming down
I’m a stereo and she’s just so monotone
Sometimes it’s just me and all my bottles all alone
I ain’t coming back this time.

[Chorus]
(Hey) Check It Out (x10)
(Yeah yeah, I’m feeling it now-ow)
Check It Out (x3)

emma stone joins cast of the new spiderman

http://www.flickr.com/photos/64904915@N00/3757654696
Emma Stone has been casted in the new Spiderman movie out in 2012, not as Mary Jane as rumored for weeks, but as Peter Parker's first love Gwen Stacy.

According to Digital Trends:
Contrary to the rumors, Stone, who is currently starring in the comedy Easy A, will not be playing Mary Jane Watson, but will take on the role of Peter Parker’s first love, Gwen Stacy. It is an easy mistake to make — both Stone and the character of Mary Jane are red heads, while Stacy is a blonde. It turns out that Stone is a natural blonde though, so maybe she was destined for the role.
It isn’t yet known who will portray Mary Jane, or what this means for the character of Stacy. In the comics, Stacy was murdered by the Green Goblin before Spider-Man’s eyes, long before he began a romance with Mary Jane.

Adolf Hitler may have been Jewish?!!!

A recent test on Adolf Hitler's DNA has revealed that the German Nazi dictator has Jewish and African roots!

According to Thirdage.com:

dolf Hitler DNA samples suggest that the dictator of Nazi Germany had both Jewish and African roots.

The tests were conducted by Jean-Paul Mulders, a Belgian journalist, and Marc Vermeeren, a historian, Telegraph reported. The pair tracked down 39 of Hitler’s living relatives throughout Europe and America to obtain saliva samples which ultimately suggest African and Jewish ancestry.

Based on reports by NewYorkDailyNews.com, the Haplopgroup E1b1b (Y-DNA) chromosome found in the samples is rarely found in Western Europeans.

Instead, “it is most commonly found in the Berbers of Morocco, in Algeria, Libya and Tunisia as well as among Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews,” Vermeeren said in Knack, the Belgium magazine in which the findings were published.
