Charice Pempengco undergoes cosmetic procedures to prepare for Glee role?

Why in the hell would an 18-year old who looks so much younger than an average 18 year-old American or for any nationality for that matter would even consider getting botox?!!! I think Charice made a bad choice on this one. Although her publicist went on salvage mode by claiming that the procedure was medical and not cosmetic, people here in Manila are already having mixed feelings for this.

According to The Huffington Post:

The 18-year-old Filipino singer with a booming voice, who recently released her self-titled debut album, saw her career skyrocket after appearing on Ellen DeGeneres' and Oprah Winfrey's talk shows. She underwent a 30-minute Thermage skin-tightening procedure and Botox injections to make her "naturally round face" more narrow, celebrity cosmetic surgeon Vicki Belo told ABS-CBN television.

However, Charice's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, said in an e-mail Monday the Botox was "absolutely not cosmetic," and added said the treatment was for muscle pain in her jaw.

Belo did the Botox procedure in front of the cameras.

"You chew gum and it turns out to be a favorite super-exercise for these muscles, your chewing muscles. So we will show you, this muscle here it's a bit protruding," Belo said as she touched Charice's face. "It's like a ball, so we are going to Botox that in order to get it flat so she will have a cuter face ... we want to give you the apple cheek look because it's cute, right?"

Charice, in the same interview, said last week's face makeover was part of her big preparations for her appearance on the hit show's second season. She starts filming at the end of this month.

Tsk, tsk. Charice better realize that most of the people here are merely riding on her success in Hollywood, especially Belo who only became famous because of celebrity endorsers. I know that Charice is young, sweet, gentle and not one to hold grudges but has she forgotten that it was ABS-CBN through their talent show "Little Big Star" who let Charice slip through their fingers and chose another kid to declare as the singing champion? And now ABS is fawning over Charice? Sheesh. Better be careful dear, make sure that the people around you are really there to support you and not to use you for their own advantage.

"In her Twitter account on Tuesday, Charice posted: "It's official. I'm on Glee (next season) but story behind it. When [the] rumor came out, it wasn't true."
