Portugal Wins Over North Korea

Portugal defeated North Korea, 7-0 yesterday and what added to the humiliation was the game was aired live in North Korea. As the game ended, the commentators had to cut short their coverage saying (as reported by Yahoo Sports), "“The Portuguese won the game and now have four points. We are ending our live broadcast now.”

French Team in Chaos

The French National Football team refused to practice at their training pitch in Knysna, South Africa after their star striker Nicolas Anelka was sent home due to foul-mouthing their coach Raymond Domenech after the team lost to Mexico on Sunday, June 20 2010.

According to yahoo news:

Amid chaotic scenes at the team's training base, the players released a statement protesting at the Chelsea striker's exclusion from the squad for a foul-mouthed outburst during the defeat to Mexico which left France facing elimination.

"All the players in the French squad without exception wish to affirm their opposition to the decision taken by the French Football Federation to exclude Nicolas Anelka," said the statement.

The tensions in the French camp rose to the surface when the players travelled to the training pitch in Knysna in their bus, but - led by captain Patrice Evra - refused to start the session.
